What you feed matters. How fast your dog eats it matters just as much.
A dog that finishes their bowl in under a minute is not eating — they are inhaling. Every gulp swallows a pocket of air along with the food, filling the stomach with a mixture of food and trapped gas that causes bloating, vomiting and in large breeds, the potentially fatal condition known as bloat. The maze pattern of this bowl forces your dog to navigate around raised walls to reach each mouthful, naturally slowing their pace to something that their digestive system can actually manage. The same food. A completely different experience for their body.
| Multi-Directional Maze Pattern | Raised walls redirect a dog's eating motion — they cannot push food to one area and clear it quickly |
| Slows Eating Speed by up to 10x | Converts a 40-second bowl into a 7 to 10-minute meal — at a pace that allows proper digestion to begin |
| Large Format — Fits All Breeds | Wide enough for large muzzles, deep enough for generous meals — scales from small dogs to large breeds |
| Suction-Stabilised Base | Grips hard floors firmly while your dog pushes against the walls — no skidding, no tipping, no mess |
| Dishwasher Safe | All food-safe material, top-rack dishwasher safe — clean thoroughly between every meal with zero effort |
Why this is essential for large, deep-chested breeds
Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus — bloat — is a life-threatening emergency that kills within hours if not treated surgically. It disproportionately affects Great Danes, German Shepherds, Standard Poodles, Labradors, Boxers and Dobermans. Fast eating is one of the most commonly identified triggers. A slow feeder bowl that costs $27 is not a luxury item for these breeds — it is a meaningful risk-reduction tool that every large-breed owner should have at their dog's feeding station.

Okay, so my dog probably wouldn't agree with a 5-star review. Truth be told? I'm pretty sure she hates it. Sometimes she gets so frustrated she'll walk away for a little while before coming back. But - you know what? There is no more HORRIBLE retching. No terrible smell that lands somewhere between dog vomit and a massive round of diarrhea. I think it's super cute myself and have no problem having it in my kitchen. Despite her aggression at trying to get to her food, it's held up really, really well. The whole forcing her to slow down thing has also decreased the mess she usually makes by 10 fold. No nasty slobber chunks (mostly) since she's not inhaling and drooling every where. It's stable though not slip resistant if that's something you're looking for.
My son was over one morning while we were feeding our larger dogs, and he noticed how much this type of bowl slows them down. We’ve been using slow feeder bowls like this for years, and they make a big difference. He mentioned his own dog eats way too fast and sometimes gets sick after eating, so I ordered this one and had it shipped directly to his house. After the first breakfast using it, he called me right away and said, “Wow, this works really well.” His dog slowed down significantly and didn’t get sick afterward like before. The bowl itself is well made, feels durable, and holds up well with bigger dogs. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do.If you’ve got a dog that eats too fast, this is one of those simple solutions that actually works.
I bought this for my 90lb lab who inhales his food. This puzzle feeder has made him slow down a little. I put 1.5 cups of dry dog food in it but it could easily hold more. It is also able to be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher. It is a heavy sturdier plastic so it is harder to flip over.
I have a Borador-half black Lab, and half Border Collie; she looks more (and I've realized) and acts more like a Lab. Definitely high energy and fast like a BC, but the "oh my goodness I am starving and need to eat all my food in 1.2 minutes"--has driven me bonkers with this dog! I tried puzzle dishes, silicone insert in her original metal dog dish, etc. Even the three-tier dish she ended up mastering how to quickly go through all the food!BUT--once I saw this Slo Bowl --one of the "slowest" in the list to choose from, I had to get it, in hopes that this would be the one to finally slow her down when eating. I was amazed at how long it took her to eat her supper the first night--almost 10 minutes, and about 13 minutes or so with breakfast the next morning! Now to be fair, her kibble (and I guess the blueberries at breakfast) were a bit too small to grab up from the more outer rings because of the depth of the bowl (which I'm glad it's that deep!), but when "mom" stepped in to help her after 11 minutes or so, my girl finally was able to finish her breakfast! The bowl is made very well, and like I said before, I wanted a deep enough bowl with just enough rings to make it that much more difficult for her in order to finally slow her down, and give me some relief that the digestion of the food will be that much better for her.It also cleans very easy, it's lightweight, and also the grips on the bottom of the bowl work very well with the placemat, so the bowl is not moving around on the floor either.I am very thankful and relieved to have found such a good feeding bowl! Great price too!
I absolutely love this slow feeder bowl. If you have a dog that inhales food like it’s a competitive sport, this is a must-have.The design actually works. The ridges inside slow my dog down significantly without causing frustration. Instead of finishing a meal in under a minute, it now takes several minutes, which has noticeably reduced gulping and post-meal discomfort. The large 4-cup capacity is perfect for medium to large dogs, and the bowl feels sturdy and well-made. It doesn’t slide around easily during feeding, and it’s simple to clean afterward. No weird corners that trap food forever. What I like most is that it turns mealtime into a small challenge instead of a race. My dog seems more engaged and satisfied afterward. If you’re dealing with a fast eater, this is an easy upgrade that actually delivers results. Highly recommend.
